ABHICHARA (BLACK MAGIC) & ASTROLOGY
Most of us have heard about this science, some of us have seen it happening in our family or in our relative’s family, all of us are afraid of it (Some are not). Since, IT EXISTS ALL OVER THE WORLD in the very midst of our society. Name the country and you would find it over there and that too in the crudest form.
China, Africa, Brazil, Canada, Australia, India and the list is endless.
So we astrologers/and society itself should be well prepared to counter it and for that the first step would be to make us aware of all the Astrological Yogas that give rise to Abhichara in native’s life.
So let’s begin, open your birth charts to diagnose these Yogas and be ready for any remedy if needed.
Abhichara means black magic. This is something which is practiced in many ways in different parts of the world, invoking the negative energies. The basic motive for black magic is driving the enemy away from the locality, kill him or cause Lunacy. This can involve things such as giving him food (polluted)/burying material inside his house etc.
Here we would need the concept of badhakesh and badhak sthan.
For all movable signs, the 11th house there from is the badhak sthan, for all fixed signs, the 9th there from are their badhak sthan and for all the dual signs, the 7th there from are their badhak sthan.
Lord of the badhak sthan is known as badhakesh.
From the placement of the badhakesh (lord of the badhak sthan) or planets in the badhak sthan, we can judge the wrath of others and their result consequences in our lives in form of troubles.
1. Wrath of deity
2. Wrath of Sarpadeva or divine serpents
3. Wrath of parents
4. Preta Bhadha
5. Drishti Badha
6. Abhichara
We would only be discussing only ABHICHARA OVER HERE.
Combination for Abhichara:
1. Badhakesh association with 6th house or lord.
2. 6th lord in 1st, 7th, or 12th house as Mars occupies or aspects Lagan.
3. Ketu is 1st, 4th, or 10th as Mars aspect Lagan.
4. When both ketu and Saturn aspect mars (results would keep on getting worse if both Saturn and ketu are afflicted)
5. From Arudh Lagan, the placement of badhakadhipati in 6th house
According to Prashna Margam, the following Shlok gives Shatru Badha or black magic Lakshana:
BAADHESHASYAARIBHE VA RIPUBHAVANAPATHERBAADHAKARKSHE YADISYA
DYOGO VA DARSHANAM VA PUNARATHA YADI VA TATAU MITHAKSHETRASAMSTHAU,
BAADHAADHEESHARINAATHAAVAPI YADI SAHITAU PASHYATONYONYATO VA
SHASTROSTATRAABHICHARAM VADATU BAHUTAYAA LAKSHANAANAM SA BHUYAAN.
The meaning is like this:
1) From Arudh Lagan, the placement of badhakadhipati in 6th house,
2) 6th lord from Arudh Lagan placed in Badhakastana.
3) Conjunction of both badhakadhipati and Shashtadhipati (6th lord and the lord of badhak sthan)
4) The mutual aspect of Badhakadhipati and 6th lord,
5) Badhakadhipati aspecting 6th house,
6) 6th lord aspecting Badhakastana,
7) 6th lord in Badhakastana.
Few other are:
1) Laganesh and 6th lord in conjunction and simultaneously aspecting Badhakastana.
2) Badhakadhipati and 6th lord in conjunction and simultaneously aspecting lagan bhava or lord.
3) Laganesh and badhakadhipati in conjunction and simultaneously placed in 6th house.
Always remember first thing to notice is afflictions on badhakadhipati by Saturn, mars or Rahu.
Now another classic called Santana Deepika tells about Black Magic in the following way:
CHARE VILAGNE RIPUNATHA DRISHTE KUJE CHA LABHE STHIRABHE CHA DHARME,
DWANDESTARASHAU PRAVADENNARANAM ROGAM RIPUNAAM KRITAMAABHICHARAI.
Meaning;
1) Arudh Lagan in chara or moveable Rasi, 6th lord aspecting Arudh Lagan, Kuja in 11th house.
2) Arudh Lagan in fixed or Sthira Rasi, 6th lord aspecting Arudh Lagan, Kuja in 9th house.
3) Arudh Lagan in Ubhaya Rashi or Dvisvabhava Rasi, 6th lord aspecting this
Arudh Lagan, Kuja in 7th house.
All these lead to Abhichara, resulting in diseases.
HORANAATHAYUTE BHAUME LAGANKENDRAGATETHAWA,
RIPUNATHE VILAGANSTHE CHAABHICHAARA UDEERYATAAM.
Meaning:
Kuja with Arudh Lagan lord or Kuja in Kendra to Lagan and 6th lord in Lagan and this is also one Lakshana for Abhichara.
SUKHABHAVAGATE KETAU KARMALAGANGATE ATHAVA,
LAGNE BHAUMAYUTE DRISHTE CHAABHICHAARA UDEERYATAAM.
Meaning:
Ketu in Arudh Lagan/Lagan,4th or 10th and Lagan belongs to Kuja or aspects
Lagan is also Shatrukrita Abhichara.
SUKHABHAVAGATE KETAU KARMALAGANGATE ATHAVA,
KENDRE MANDI SAMAAYUKTE ROGAH KSHUDRABHICHARAJAH
Meaning:
Ketu in 1-4-10 and Mandi also in Lagan Kendra, then the disease is due to Abhichara.
SHATRUSTAANDHIPE LAGNE KARMANYSTANGATHEATHAVA,
LAGNE BHAUMAYUTE DRISHTE CHAABHICHAARA UDEERYATAAM.
Meaning:
6th lord from Arudh Lagan in Lagan or 7th or 10th and Kuja in Lagan or
aspecting Lagan is also another type of Abhichara.
Before going ahead here are few remedies.
Remedies
1. Mritunjaya Japa, Ganapati or Tila Homa indicates the relief.
General Remedial Measures
1. Jupiter [who represent Sadashiva or Maha-Vishnu] & ninth lord help /protect.
2. A natural benefic in the ninth or ninth Lord in strength in a quadrant or Jupiter in Lagan/aspecting Lagan are a few of the combinations for protection.
3. If malefic are in quadrant to them, they will strongly block the efficacy. The ninth Lord can also be the Lord of 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 & 12 houses respectively. The other house influencing the ninth house would show the deity who need to be worshipped. For example, if the ninth Lord is also Lord of second house then, start the remedial process by worshipping the Kuladevata.
4. If any planet conjoined or aspected by a natural benefic or a natural benefic itself is in Lagan, then the deity indicated by the benefic planet shall surely protect the person.
5. If the ninth Lord associates with the Badhak House or Badhakesh, then the deity he worshipped in his previous birth has been neglected, thereby leading to misfortune and troubles.
6. If the fourth Lord is associated with the Badhak House or Badhakesh, then it is the Grama Devata who needs to be worshipped.
7. If the second Lord associates with the Badhak House or Badhakesh, then it is the Kula Devata. Advise resumption of worship immediately.
Shiva tandav stotra, Vishnu sahasranam path also helps a lot…
Indeed any devata has the power to provide protection from Abhichara if his/her bhakti is done nicely
Always remember one basic rule.
If badhakesh is being afflicted by any of the 6th /8th lords/ Saturn/ mars/Rahu…with simultaneous presence of ketu mars yog in lagan or with lagan lord then Abhichara is present in the chart.
This yog can have variations like for example ketu in 4th house, mars aspecting lagan from 7th/10th house and badhakesh with Saturn or 8th lord.
Look into this chart where person was being killed due to Abhichara.

Also do remember that various dasha sequence play a huge role in aggravating the effect of Abhichara.
Like in the above chart the death was caused in this dasha sequence…
Jupiter mahadasha (acting as a marak as sitting with marak Venus), Mars antardasha (aspecting badhakesh & badhak sthan and in conjunction with 6th lord),Venus parayantar dasha (actual marak being the lord of 2nd and 7th house) and Rahu sookshma dasha (marak as placed in 7th house)
Here badhakesh Saturn (retro) is being afflicted by mars (8th lord) and is placed in 8th house
There is a conjunction between 6th and lagan lord (mars and mercury)-aspecting the badhak sthan (11th house for mesh lagan) also ketu is placed in Lagan. Both Venus and Jupiter are marak placed in 6th house.
Again always remember that RAHU PLAYS A HUGE ROLE AS FAR AS BLACK MAGIC IS CONCERNED.
Just be cautious in the dasha antardasha of 6th lord, badhakesh, Rahu, Saturn, mars, obviously when these planets and 6th lord are afflicting each other.
Also be cautious when:
1) Mars under the influence of ketu and Saturn
2) Strong connection between badhakesh, badhak sthan and 6th lord.
3) Ketu and mars in Kendra from each other.
4) Saturn aspecting badhak sthan (because of paraivartan also influencing badhakesh)
5) All 3, Saturn, Mars and Rahu are sitting in marak sthan (2nd house)
6) Badhak sthan from AL strongly afflicted by Saturn, Rahu and mars.
7) 6th lord from AL in Arudh lagan
(Also refer to above mentioned rules, if above mentioned conditions are applicable)
Note:
When 11th lord happens to be the badhakesh for mesh, karak, tula and Makar lagan then badhak sthan and badhakesh should not be conjuncted or aspected by a malefic planet(functional,naisargik) both in the navamsa and lagan chart.
When 9th lord and 7th lord happens to be the badhakesh for fixed lagan signs that is (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius) and dual lagan signs (Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pieces) respectively then badhakesh should not be conjuncted or aspected by a malefic planet(functional,naisargik) both in the navamsa and lagan chart but also should not be placed in 6th/12th/8th houses.
